Provides direction related to operations, processes, and conditions of their area. Plans, guides, and empowers team members in the day-to-day operation of the department. Sets an example for those in their department by modeling exceptional customer experience. What you'll be doing:

  • Engaging peers to provide the best possible shopping experience for customers, including an exceptional checkout experience.
  • Communicating with team members and assigning daily work tasks.
  • Mentoring and coaching team members to ensure customer service and sales goals are exceeded, and the area is maintained to Meijer standards with completed required trainings.
  • Supporting training for new team members and cross-training high-potential talent, providing peer coaching on responsibilities and standards to positively impact productivity.
  • Collaborating with leadership on department scheduling to focus on team engagement, customer service, store sales, and profitability.
  • Monitoring product freshness through rotation and dating policies.
  • Guiding the team in compliance with food safety standards and regulations, working safely in line with 200% accountability.
  • Leading team efforts in ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and product display where applicable.
  • Creating an environment that supports Meijer culture, including valuing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
  • Operating registers and handling cash when needed.
  • Operating powered equipment where applicable.
  • Participating in period-end inventories to meet goals.
  • May act in Lead capacity in other departments as needed.
