Job summary

Intermountain Health Utah Valley Hospital is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to ensure instruments and equipment are properly sterilized, assembled, and tracked. You will train to perform duties independently while complying with state and federal regulations and Intermountain policies.

The role spans Level 1–3 responsibilities, with opportunities to advance, a 40-hour schedule, and pay ranges shown below.

Qualifications

• Must attain Central Processing Certification from HSPA within one year of hire date.
• Central Processing Certification from HSPA required.
• CER or CIS certification through HSPA (Level 3)
• Experience with Sterile Processing Department software
• High School Diploma

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, clean, decontaminate, and disinfect basic surgical instruments.
• Identify, assemble, protect, wrap, contain, peel pack, label and sterilize instruments.
• Print off a needs list and collect items for surgical procedures.
• Issue sterile supplies to hospital areas and receive durable equipment.
• Perform basic inventory duties and communicate with providers, caregivers, and vendors.
• Level 2 and 3 duties include validating sterilization tests and operating CP equipment.
• Teach and precept new SPD staff and validate competencies within the education system.
• Locate, read and follow manufacturer instructions for use (IFU).
