Mount Sinai Medical Center in South Florida seeks a trained sleep technologist to join its Sleep Lab. The role involves preparing overnight data collection, maintaining patient comfort, and ensuring safe operation of diagnostic equipment across adolescent to geriatric patients.

Responsibilities include patient education, equipment troubleshooting, and collaboration with medical staff. Certification in RPSGT or R.EEG T and BLS are required, with a high school diploma or GED as the baseline.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the laboratory and bedrooms as needed to perform overnight data collection.
• Cleans equipment on a daily basis.
• Clearly explains procedures to and establishes rapport with all patients.
• Maintains a comfortable and controlled laboratory environment during the entire time the patient is present.
• Summons qualified medical/supervisor personnel immediately if an emergency situation develops.
• Alerts immediate supervisor of problem situations and takes preventive and corrective action.
• Appropriately utilizes and troubleshoots diagnostic and therapeutic equipment.
• Diagnoses and corrects minor deficiencies and immediately reports major technical malfunctions.
• Adapts to changing workloads and completes assigned tasks within an expected timeframe.
• Demonstrates the ability to understand and react effectively to the unique needs of the adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.
• Participates with in-service training programs in and outside of the department.
• Demonstrates effective and efficient care through clinical competencies at least annually.
• Responsible for following-up on all information communicated at staff meetings.
• Consistently observes and documents the effects of drugs, oxygen and other diagnostic and therapeutic measures pertaining to patient.
• Guides the performance of technical staff and participates in the training of medical and technical personnel.
• Provides input for evaluation.
• Uses supplies, equipment and resources in cost effective manner.
