Job summary

Fortune Fish & Gourmet is seeking a warehouse associate to support seafood production operations in a cold storage environment. Responsibilities include loading, unloading, stocking, labeling, receiving goods, and maintaining the seafood cooler to meet safety and sanitation standards.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, 1–2 years in food processing or cold storage (seafood experience a plus), basic English, arithmetic skills, and the ability to lift 40–50 pounds.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required or expected.
  • 1–2 years of related experience in a food processing plant or cold storage; seafood experience is a plus.
  • Basic English speaking and written proficiency is required.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic tasks (adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing).

Responsibilities

  • Cold storage management: Organize, stock, and rotate seafood inventory in refrigerated or sub-zero cooling environments.
  • Sanitation and Hygiene: Sanitize work surfaces, floors, and equipment using cleaning solutions per GMP.
  • Product handling: Open packaging, sort by grade/size, and pack into containers, boxes, or ice-filled crates for shipping.
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect raw materials and finished goods for abnormalities, defects, or foreign materials.
  • Compliance: Document cleaned areas and production metrics per SOP and food safety.
  • Unload products, containers, and stock them in designated areas.
  • Ensure products are properly placed on racks, shelves, or bins per established practice.
  • Mark materials with identifying information.
  • Record the number of materials or items received or distributed.
  • Arrange products in the specified sequence for processing by others.
  • Drive forklifts or other motorized equipment to transport items within the plant.
  • Support in maintaining inventory records.
  • Inbound processing of returned products; alert production managers.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Requirements
  • Education – High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience – One to two years of related experience in a food processing plant or cold storage warehouse. Seafood experience is a plus.
  • Work ethic – A sense of urgency in meeting critical and time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Language – Basic English speaking and written proficiency.
  • Mathematical – Ability to perform basic arithmetic tasks – adding, subtracting, dividing, and multiplying.
  • Physical demands: Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy loads (typically up to 40 to 50 pounds).
  • Work Environment: Must be highly comfortable standing for long periods in consistently cold climates of 35º or lower, wet, and odorous environments.
  • A combination of the above will also be considered.
