Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience as a cleaner in a food service or manufacturing facility.
• Experience with GMPs and sanitation protocols.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and climb stairs/ladders.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sanitation: Clean and sanitize assigned areas, production equipment, and tools within the facility following SOPs and GMPs.
• Complex Cleaning Environments: Work in tight spaces, climb ladders, and work at heights to reach all areas.
• Equipment Operation: Operate floor scrubbers and PIVs (forklifts, pallet jacks, scissor lifts) as needed.
• Documentation: Accurately complete cleaning logs and records.
• Compliance: Adhere to chemical handling, PPE, product safety guidelines, and GMPs throughout the plant.
• Team Support: Perform other duties as assigned by lead/supervisor.
• Schedule Flexibility: Work five-day overnight schedule from 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM.

The Role

The Sanitation Associate is an integral part of the Cranford team, responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment. This role ensures that all production equipment, tools, and facility areas meet strict cleanliness and hygiene standards in compliance with food safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices. You will play a key role in ensuring compliance with local, state, and national food safety regulations, including the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). In the event of an absence, this role will serve as the primary backup for other Cleaning & Sanitation associates.

• Sanitation: Clean and sanitize assigned areas, production equipment, and tools within the manufacturing facility to prepare for smooth operations, while strictly following safety rules, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines.
• Complex Cleaning Environments: Perform cleaning tasks that may require working in tight spaces, climbing ladders, and working at heights to ensure all areas of the facility are reached.
• Equipment Operation: Operate floor scrubbers and Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIVs), including forklifts, pallet jacks, and scissor lifts. (Must be willing to learn how to operate new equipment as needed).
• Documentation: Accurately complete all related cleaning logs and records to document that proper cleaning procedures were followed.
• Compliance: Strictly adhere to proper sanitation, safe handling of chemicals, proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage, product safety guidelines, and GMPs throughout the plant.
• Team Support: Perform other duties as assigned by the lead/supervisor.
• Schedule Flexibility: Must be flexible to work different shifts. The working schedule is subject to change based on business needs. This position follows a five-day overnight schedule from 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM.

What You’ll Bring

• Required:
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Experience: At least one (1) year of experience as a cleaner in a food service or manufacturing facility.
• Industry Knowledge: Demonstrated experience with GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and general sanitation protocols.
• Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders comfortably.
  • Ability to work in tight spaces and at varying heights (using scissor lifts or ladders).
• Work Ethic: Extremely detail-oriented with a strong sense of urgency to complete work in a timely manner. Must be punctual, reliable, and possess an excellent work ethic.
• Highly Preferred:
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
