Job summary

United Quality Cooperative is seeking a friendly Sales Associate to provide excellent service, help customers select products, stock shelves, and operate the register in our busy retail location.

You will assist in the deli when needed, maintain clean displays, follow safety policies, and collaborate with team members to ensure a positive shopping experience for customers.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Retail experience preferred, especially in convenience/store environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with product selection and ensure customer satisfaction in quality, service, and problem resolution.

• Assist in deli area when needed by preparing/packaging food items, serving customers, and maintaining food safety standards.

Sales Associate - United Quality Cooperative

A Sales Associate is responsible for providing excellent customer service, assisting customers with product selection, replenishing merchandise, maintaining store cleanliness, and operating the cash register. Also supports daily store operations by stocking shelves, monitoring inventory, and ensuring displays are organized and appealing. When needed, assists in the deli department by preparing and packaging food items, serving customers, maintaining food safety and sanitation standards, and helping keep the deli area clean and well-stocked. Works collaboratively with team members to ensure a positive shopping experience and efficient store operations.

Responsibilities:

• Understand and follow all policies and procedures.
• Work with customers to ensure satisfaction in areas such as quality, service, and problem resolution.
• Comply with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
• Participate in regular safety meetings, training, and hazard assessments.
• Maintain high standards for work areas and appearance.
• Communicate with co-workers and other departments with professionalism and respect.
• Accurately handle cash transactions.
• Greeting and assisting customers: Welcoming customers, understanding their needs, and helping them find what they're looking for.
• Product knowledge: Being knowledgeable about the products in the store and providing helpful recommendations.
• Stocking shelves and maintaining displays: Ensuring that products are well stocked and organized.
• Keeping the store clean and tidy: Maintaining a clean and organized sales floor, stockroom, and customer and employee areas including restrooms.
• Assisting with merchandise resets: Helping to implement changes to the layout of the store.
• Performing tasks in service areas: Assisting with tasks like key cutting, paint mixing, and creating hydraulic hoses.(For Ag Retail center only)
• Participating in store meetings: Staying informed about store policies and procedures.
• Basic understanding of proper food handling and sanitation procedures.
• Basic Ability to operate cooking and food preparation equipment.
• All other tasks and duties assigned due to business needs.

Requirements:

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Reading, writing, basic math and verbal communication skills required.
• 1 year of previous work experience in retail preferred, convenience store environment.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to multitask, be a self-starter, and complete tasks in a timely manner.

Working Conditions:

• This employee has direct and frequent contact with customers.
• Tasks are performed in all areas inside and outside of the store and can include exposure to extreme temperatures (both hot and cold), vapors, fumes, high humidity, and household and commercial chemicals short periods routinely, with the possibility for longer periods.
• The noise level is generally moderate.
• Work can include long hours on all shifts, weekends and holidays.
• Occasional in kitchen work

Physical Requirements:

• Stand for an entire shift/extended period of time.
• Walk for long distances.
• Use hands and fingers to handle and feel.
• Ability to reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to sit.
• Bend, stoop, lift, shake, stir, pour, carry, push, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
