Job summary

Colorado Coalition for the Homeless seeks dedicated professional to support individuals experiencing homelessness through compassionate, trauma-informed services in Colorado. You will engage with clients, assess needs, coordinate resources, and protect confidentiality in high-volume environments.

Required: high school diploma, CPR/First Aid within 30 days, fluency or preference for bilingual English-Spanish and/or ASL, and experience in human services or crisis response.

Coalition Mission

The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for families, children, and individuals who are experiencing or at-risk of homelessness throughout Colorado.

The Coalition advocates for and provides a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being, and stability of those it serves.

Education, Licensure and Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification required within 30 days of employment.
  • Bi-lingual English-Spanish and/or ASL preferred

Experience

  • Experience working in high-volume environments preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or in a direct human services role preferred.
  • Experience as an EMT, firefighter, or first responder preferred.
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of issues affecting individuals experiencing homelessness and a commitment to serving underserved populations.
  • Ability to assess and de-escalate potentially dangerous situations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with office equipment and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a sincere desire to support others.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Ability to engage with individuals who may be experiencing crisis, behavioral health issues or substance use disorders while using a trauma-informed approach.

Working Conditions

  • Work in various settings, residential, clinical environments, field encampments, and traditional office spaces.
  • May be assigned to work in or near encampments or other high-risk locations.
  • May be required to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and wet environments; or in unsheltered locations as needed.
  • May escort clients and/staff or participate in professional meetings in non-climate-controlled environments.
  • Occasional exposure to noise, odors, or crowded environments.
  • While not an expectation, physicalintervention with clients may occur
