Job summary

MHA (Mental Health Association) seeks a Residential Support Specialist for evening to overnight shifts in Western Massachusetts. You will support individuals with disabilities in community living settings, promoting independence and community engagement.

You will assist with daily living, health needs, and transportation access, while maintaining dignity, choice, and safety. MAP/CPR/First Aid certifications are required or pursued, with teamwork and documentation emphasized.

Qualifications

• Strong communication, organizational and computer skills.
• Adaptability to participants' changing needs.
• High school diploma or GED; college degree preferred in human services.

Responsibilities

• Provide respectful, person-centered support to participants in daily living activities and skill development.
• Promote community integration by facilitating access to transportation, social activities, and external resources.
• Support participants' health needs, including medication administration and appointment scheduling.
• Assist with financial skills and money management, maintaining documentation of expenditures.
• Respond to emergencies and crisis situations following agency protocols.
• Advocate for participants and build self-advocacy with families and community supports.
• Contribute to ISPs and document progress and participation.
• Maintain timely documentation including logs and health records.
• Promote safety by following procedures and participating in drills.
• Collaborate with team, attend trainings, and maintain MAP, CPR and First Aid certifications.
