Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate intake for new residents, collecting data and orienting to house rules.
  • Provide residents with house rules and ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate with housekeeper to keep rooms clean and furnished.
  • Conduct room inspections and maintain neat living areas.
  • Ensure safety and security within the house at all times.
  • Answer phones and greet visitors, providing a positive experience.

We work to promote and support justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion at all levels in the organization.Job SummaryUnder the supervision of the Director of Wallis House, the full-time Resident Advisor provides onsite supervision and support to residents, as well as overseeing the safety and security of the facility.Essential FunctionsFacilitate all intakes for new residents, including collecting data, inspecting resident belongings, and orienting residents to house expectations and guidelines.Provide Residents with a list of house rules.Liaise with the housekeeper to ensure all rooms are clean, tidy and fully-furnished to accommodate residents needs.Conduct room inspections to ensure Residents are properly maintaining their area, clean and neat manner per house rules.Ensure safety and security within the house at all times.Provide administrative support by answering the phone and greeting visitors and volunteers, ensuring that they have a positive experience.Check in with Residents who are on-site to ensure Resident safety and welfare.Respond to resident complaints in a timely and professional manner.Assist with conflict resolution in coordination with Resident Case Manager, always aiming to maintain a fair, positive, and supportive culture.Sensitive and responsive to the cultural differences among the agency's client populationActively participate in a quality improvement projectThe Resident Advisor will take on special projects or additional duties as assigned.Competency RequirementsMust be able to work independently without constant supervision.Basic computer skills including data entry.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Effective problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task.A collaborative, positive, and mature approach.Knowledge of mental health and substance abuse preferred.Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalentExperience working with the homelessCertifications/LicensesValid CA drivers license preferredAdditional RequirementsDepartment of Justice/Fingerprint clearanceSatisfactory completion of health screeningTuberculosis clearanceProof of legal eligibility to work in the United StatesPhysical DemandsWhile performing the duties of a Resident Advisor, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.
