Skylos Sports Medicine, a BluePearl Partner, seeks an Overnight Registered Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery team in Ellicott City, MD. You will lead anesthesia protocols, monitor patients, and manage perioperative care through recovery.

Responsibilities include IV placement, intubation, CRI management, and advanced anesthesia procedures. This role offers growth opportunities and competitive compensation based on experience and credentials.

Qualifications

• Role requires an Overnight Registered Veterinary Technician for surgery.
• Candidate with VTS credentialing eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.
• Ll license/registration as RVT is implied by the job title.

Responsibilities

• Use anesthesia and analgesia protocols tailored to each patient.
• Monitor anesthesia, troubleshoot complications, and intervene as needed.
• IV catheter placement, intubation, and equipment maintenance.
• Perform physical exams and monitor vital parameters and fluids.
• Set up IV fluids and CRI’s; manage entire perioperative process.
• Advance anesthesia skills including epidurals and difficult airway care.
• Operate fluid pumps and manage patient recovery from anesthesia.
• Handle appointments, histories, records, invoicing, and discharges.
• Aseptically disconnect/connect patients from IV fluids and monitor overload.

Job description

Skylos Sports Medicine, a BluePearl Partner, is seeking an Overnight Registered Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery team in Ellicott City, MD.

Schedule: Tuesday - Thursday, 6pm - 7am

Pay: $26.00 - $38.00 / hour + competitive shift differentials

This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

• Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$4.00/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$4.00/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$5.50/hr. Shift Differential

As a Skylos Surgery Veterinary Technician, You Will

• Use your knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Monitor anesthesia, trouble shoot anesthetic complications, and make appropriate interventions.
• IV catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance.
• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort. Understand normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
• Set up intravenous fluids and CRI’s.
• Continuous expansion of advanced anesthetic skills, including epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management.
• Operate and monitor intravenous fluid pumps.
• Ability to take patient through entire procedure from start to finish (pre-op, monitoring, post-op, and recovery)
• Manage appointments, obtain histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc.
• Disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically.
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
