Job summary

Skylos Sports Medicine, a BluePearl Partner, is seeking an Overnight Registered Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery team in Ellicott City, MD. Schedule: Tue–Thu, 6pm–7am. Pay: $23.21-$38.58/hour plus shift differentials.

Responsibilities include anesthesia planning, monitoring, IV catheter placement, intubation, and patient recovery, with ongoing professional development and eligibility for VTS/credentialing compensation. Benefits include medical, PTO, and licensure support.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia protocols.
• Ability to monitor anesthesia and handle complications.
• Proficient in IV catheter placement and endotracheal intubation.

Responsibilities

• Formulate anesthesia plans and tailor them to each patient.
• Monitor anesthesia, troubleshoot complications, and intervene as needed.
• Set up IV fluids and CRIs, maintain anesthetic equipment.
• Perform physical exams and monitor vital signs and recovery.

Skylos Sports Medicine, a BluePearl Partner, is seeking an Overnight Registered Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery team in Ellicott City, MD.

Schedule

Tuesday - Thursday, 6pm - 7am

Pay

$23.21 - $38.58 / hour + competitive shift differentials

This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

Shift Differentials

Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum. For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$4.00/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$4.00/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$5.50/hr. Shift Differential

Responsibilities

• Use your knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Monitor anesthesia, trouble shoot anesthetic complications, and make appropriate interventions.
• IV catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance.
• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort. Understand normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
• Set up intravenous fluids and CRI's.
• Continuous expansion of advanced anesthetic skills, including epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management.
• Operate and monitor intravenous fluid pumps.
• Ability to take patient through entire procedure from start to finish (pre-op, monitoring, post-op, and recovery)
• Manage appointments, obtain histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc.
• Disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically.
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
