Job summary

NAMI McHenry County is seeking a Recovery Support Specialist SUB for overnight coverage in our Living Room Program crisis center in Crystal Lake. This role supports individuals in recovery through one-on-one peer interactions, group sessions, and community outreach, leveraging lived experience as a peer supporter.

The ideal candidate will hold or be pursuing CRSS certification, have a High School Diploma or GED, and demonstrate strong communications.

Qualifications

• CRSS credential or progress toward within 1 year.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Facilitator certifications preferred or willing to complete within 1 year.
• 2+ years of relevant experience preferred (volunteer/internship OK).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (MS Office).
• Spanish language ability strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one peer support in the Living Room crisis center.
• Facilitate weekly support groups for individuals with mental illness and family members.
• Assist in recovery and wellness planning with participants.
• Support community outreach and collaboration with local services.
• Promote self-directed recovery tools and access to clinical treatment.
• Attend to safety and crisis support alongside the Recovery Support team.
