Job summary

NAMI McHenry County is seeking a Recovery Support Specialist SUB for overnight coverage at the Crystal Lake Living Room Program. The role uses lived experience to provide non-clinical peer support, crisis support, and recovery education in a drop-in setting.

This is an on-site, overnight position with flexible shifts and no guaranteed hours. The ideal candidate will have CRSS certification or plan to complete within one year, strong communication skills, and ability to engage diverse

Qualifications

• Obtained or are working towards the Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) credential.
• High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
• Certifications as a facilitator preferred or to be completed within one year of hire.
• 2+ years of relevant experience preferred, including volunteer/internships.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; bilingual Spanish is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one peer support and crisis support in the Living Room Program.
• Facilitate weekly support groups and staff recovery events.
• Educate about recovery tools and reduce stigma.
• Coordinate with local services for safety collaborations and community outreach.
• Work collaboratively with the Recovery Support team in a fast-paced environment.
