Job summary

Aparium Hotel Group is seeking an Overnight Operations Supervisor for our Kansas City property. The role reports to the Director of Hotel Operations/Chief Engineer and is non-exempt.

You will supervise routine maintenance, guest services, safety protocols, and coordination with departments to ensure a seamless guest experience. Qualifications include at least 1 year in guest services, strong English skills, a valid driver’s license, ability to lift 50 lbs, and flexibility to work

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in a guest services environment.
• Good reading, writing and spoken English for guest engagement and reporting.
• Current valid driver’s license.
• Ability to drive cars/trucks/SUVs; manual transmission experience preferred.
• Ability to work varying schedules including nights and weekends.
• Lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Uphold the company's People, Place values and deliver translocal hospitality.
• Maintain relationships with associates, promote teamwork and a harmonious environment.
• Handle routine maintenance, repairs and cleanliness in guest rooms, public spaces, event space and back-of-house areas.
• Operate safety systems, take corrective action on maintenance or security issues.
• Participate in room preventative maintenance and communicate with supervisors on repairs.
• Assist with delivery and setup of new equipment and tools as needed.
• Provide courteous guest service, respond promptly to requests and manage valet parking tasks.
• Ensure lobby and front drive are clean and welcoming to guests.
• Accurately process payments and support cash handling procedures.

What You Will Do

• Uphold and role model the company's principles of People, Place and to ensure the experiences of translocal hospitality, intuitive service, and collaboration
• Maintain a good working relationship with other associates by promoting teamwork and fostering a harmonious working environment
• Handle routine maintenance, repairs and cleanliness in guest rooms, public spaces, event space, outlets, back of house spaces and grounds
• Demonstrate familiarity with the hotel's safety systems and takes corrective action on any maintenance or operating problems which affect the security or operating condition of the hotel
• Participate in the room preventative maintenance program
• Use your skills and intuition to detect equipment malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair
• Repair and maintain physical structure of establishment and furnishings as needed
• Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards; Participate in all scheduled training classes and meetings
• Transport heavy boxes and packages within the hotel for maintenance and repairs
• Assist in delivery and setup of all new equipment such as televisions, mattresses, tables, chairs, etc.
• Communicate with Chief Operating Engineer on projects as assigned
• Respond to all guest requests in a timely and personable manner
• Provide valet parking services to safely and efficiently transport guest vehicles to designated parking areas
• Demonstrate a caring understanding of guest service needs, exceeding guest expectations by looking for opportunities to add a special touch
• Warmly greet guests who arrive to the hotel by opening their car door and welcoming them to the hotel
• Carefully unload guest luggage from vehicles
• Demonstrate a keen attention to detail, accurately processing tickets and auditing throughout the shift to ensure a seamless guest experience
• Interact with guests in the lobby, demonstrating sincere hospitality
• Take pride in ensuring that the front drive and entrance is kept clean and inviting, reflecting a genuine care for a positive first impression
• Accurately handle payment transactions and cash drops
• Recognize and engage positively with repeat guests
• Demonstrate the ability to work well unsupervised
• Operate in fluid communication with the Guest Services team and other departments in the hotel to ensure a smooth guest experience

What You Will Need

• A minimum of one year of experience in a guest services environment is preferred
• Good reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language for engaging with guests and report writing
• A current valid driver's license
• An ability to drive cars, trucks, SUVs, with the ability to drive a manual transmission
• Knowledge of the local area to provide directions and recommendations is preferred
• An ability to work varying schedules, likely to include nights and/or weekends, to reflect the business needs of the hotel
• Proficiency of the English language in reading, writing and verbal communication
• Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods, bend, climb stairs and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work by yourself, lead yourself, make it count!
• Ability to work varied shifts, that may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays
