Job summary

Assisting Hands Littleton is seeking a small team of compassionate caregivers to provide overnight care for a client living with memory loss, with regular 12-hour shifts from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM on Sundays and Mondays. We value consistency, provide training, and offer opportunities for fill-in shifts as needed.

You will work in a home setting with a single client, ensuring safety, companionship, and individualized support throughout the night, including cat-friendly accommodations.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of caregiving experience in a facility or with an in-home care agency.
• Experience caring for someone with Alzheimer's, dementia, or another memory-related condition.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and auto insurance.
• Three professional references.
• TB test within 30 days of hire.
• Excellent communication skills.
• A patient, compassionate personality and a genuine heart for older adults.
• Comfortable working in a home with cats.

Responsibilities

• Memory care support with patience, reassurance, and gentle redirection
• Assistance with getting ready for bed and settling into the evening
• Companionship and meaningful conversation
• Support if the client wakes during the night
• Assistance with snacks, hydration, or other needs as appropriate
• Encouragement and reassurance when the client becomes confused or unsettled
• Maintaining a safe and comfortable environment throughout the shift
• Support with the morning routine as the overnight shift comes to an end
• A calm, reassuring presence for the client
• Be there and provide a familiar face and calm voice when the night feels confusing
