Job Overview

The Overnight Loss Prevention Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, quiet, and secure environment for overnight guests, night audit associates, and hotel property during third-shift operations.

This role conducts routine overnight patrols, monitors security systems, responds to late-night incidents, and manages emergency situations when property staffing is minimal. The Officer works closely with the overnight team to prevent loss, ensure strict compliance with safety procedures, control after-hours access, and deliver exceptional, peaceful guest service throughout the night.

Responsibilities

Patrol the hotel property and surrounding areas.
Monitor CCTV cameras and security systems.
Respond promptly to guest, associate, and emergency calls.
Complete accurate incident and accident reports.
Enforce hotel safety and security policies.
Monitor entrances, exits, and restricted areas.
Assist with Lost & Found procedures.
Report safety hazards and suspicious activity.
Support emergency response procedures and evacuations.
Monitor overnight activity throughout the property.
Communicate incidents and important information to the incoming shift.
Provide professional guest service while maintaining a secure environment.

Qualifications

Education/Formal Training

High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience

Previous experience in security, hospitality, customer service, or a related field preferred.
Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge/Skills

Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word.
Experience operating CCTV cameras, surveillance systems, and digital incident reporting software.
Effective use of portable radios and standard radio communication protocols.
Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
Ability to recognize signs of drug and alcohol impairment or abuse.
Secondary language skills are a plus.
Excellent verbal communication skills for clear interaction with guests, associates, and management.
Strong written literacy and comprehension skills for drafting accurate, detailed incident reports and daily security logs.
Excellent auditory perception to communicate clearly via portable radio and assist guests in high-volume environments.
Strong visual acuity for performing safety inspections, detecting hazards, and responding to emergencies.

Continuous standing -would not be standing in one place for any extended length of time. Uses stairs in responding to fire alarms -no elevators.
