FOSSIL RIM WILDLIFE CENTER invites applicants for the position:

Hourly Part Time- Overnight Lodgings Associate

Hourly Rate: $14.50

Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Overnight Lodgings Associate helps maintain a safe and secure environment across Fossil Rim's overnight lodging facilities, with particular attention to Safari Camp. This position monitors guest activity, conducts routine patrols, promotes compliance with park rules and restricted-area boundaries, and responds to safety concerns, severe weather, emergencies, and other after-hours incidents. The associate also checks in late arrivals, assists overnight guests, and answers questions about Fossil Rim's operations, wildlife, history, and conservation efforts. This position requires sound judgment, calm and professional rule enforcement, and the ability to respond independently when immediate assistance is limited.

Description of Position:

The responsibilities of the Overnight Associate include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide professional, friendly, and efficient guest service in person and by phone, using appropriate knowledge of Fossil Rim's offerings and operations.
  • Greet and assist guests at the Lodge and Safari Camp as needed throughout the overnight shift.
  • Complete or support late-arrival check-ins according to established procedures, including reservation verification, required paperwork, key issuance, directions, and communication with other Lodgings staff.
  • Maintain awareness of expected late arrivals and guest and vehicle movements. Initiate the approved communication and security escalation process when a guest cannot be located within the expected time.
  • Patrol and monitor the Lodge and Safari Camp to help ensure guest safety, compliance with park rules, and respect for wildlife and restricted-area boundaries.
  • Address park-rule violations professionally, prioritizing de-escalation and service recovery.
  • Understand Fossil Rim's emergency plans and procedures and respond appropriately when immediate assistance is limited.
  • Use the point-of-sale system to take reservations for Lodgings and process Lodgings-related transactions.
  • Obtain and maintain Food Handler and TABC certifications. Fossil Rim will provide the required certification courses if the employee is not already certified.
  • Exchange shift reports with incoming and outgoing staff at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Promptly communicate safety concerns and incidents through the appropriate Lodgings, Security, emergency, and management channels.
  • Complete weekly checklists and other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain current knowledge of special events, animal updates, attractions, and basic Fossil Rim operations.
  • Provide feedback and reports to the supervisor or director as requested.
  • Provide occasional support to the housekeeping team by completing tasks when additional assistance is needed.
Experience and Qualities Required:
  • Must be at least 21 years old and possess a valid driver's license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide professional, friendly, and helpful service, with strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with staff, demonstrate respect for supervisors, and build trust with colleagues.
  • Maintain a neat, clean appearance and comply with uniform standards established by management.
  • Punctual, dependable, and flexible as duties and scheduling needs change.
  • Ability to work independently, remain resourceful, and maintain a calm, organized demeanor.
Work Requirements:
  • This position works up to 29 hours per week, typically covering three overnight shifts. Availability to work weekends and holidays is required.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs.
  • Ability to work around cleaning chemicals and laundry machinery.
  • Understand and comply with the Employee Handbook, Risk Management Plan, organizational policies and procedures, departmental goals, and Fossil Rim's mission, values, and goals.
