Large Animal Overnight Veterinary Technician

Quakertown, PA | Full‑Time Overnight Position

Overnight Shift | Shift Differential: Earn up to $3.50/hour

Are you looking for an overnight role where you'll be part of a skilled emergency team handling challenging and rewarding cases? Quakertown Veterinary Clinic is a busy 24‑hour mixed animal hospital providing emergency and referral care for both companion and large animals. Our experienced team treats equine, bovine, camelids, small ruminants, pigs, and other farm animals while also supporting a thriving small animal emergency service. We're looking for a Large Animal Overnight Veterinary Technician who enjoys working in a fast‑paced environment, thrives during emergency situations, and is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care.

What You'll Do

As a member of our overnight large animal team, you'll assist veterinarians with emergency and hospitalized patients while ensuring exceptional nursing care throughout the night.

Responsibilities

• Assisting veterinarians during large animal emergency examinations and treatments
• Monitoring hospitalized equine and farm animal patients overnight
• Administering medications, IV fluids, and prescribed treatments
• Placing and maintaining IV catheters
• Collecting laboratory samples and performing diagnostics
• Assisting with emergency procedures and surgical preparation
• Monitoring anesthesia and patient recovery as needed
• Maintaining accurate medical records
• Preparing and maintaining treatment areas and equipment
• Communicating patient updates to the veterinary team during shift changes
• Safely handling horses, cattle, and other large animal species
• Supporting occasional mixed animal emergency cases when needed

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience working with horses, livestock, or in a mixed animal practice required
• Veterinary technician experience in emergency, equine, or large animal medicine preferred
• CVT, LVT, or RVT credentials welcomed but not required
• Comfortable safely handling horses and large animal patients
• Strong technical and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work independently during overnight shifts
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Dependable, organized, and adaptable in a fast‑paced emergency setting
