Job summary

Adelphoi Western Region – Highland Detention at Shuman seeks a Juvenile Detention Counselor for overnights in Pittsburgh, PA. This full-time role offers comprehensive training, benefits, and a $22/hr starting wage. You will work with youth in a secure setting, coordinate with law enforcement, and maintain safety and order.

Ideal candidates have 60 college credits, strong 1:1 communication, and physical fitness to assist with safety and interventions. Equal Opportunity Employer.

• Clear 1:1 communication with youth.
• Ability to assist with physical care and safety.
• Minimum of 60 college credits.

Responsibilities

• Work with local law enforcement officials, and juvenile authorities assisting youth with their urgent shelter needs while longer-term treatment interventions are prepared.
• Act as a point of first contact to explain to youth their situation, set roles and expectations as they enter into the program, and provide for their immediate needs.
• Sustain a group environment based on safety, security, and trust that enables an orderly and consistent routine in directing youth behavior.
• Complete a rigorous training program that will prepare you to build relationships with boundaries, address youth behaviors, and maintain healthy living arrangements.
