Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Kirkland, WA is seeking a knowledgeable Veterinary Assistant to join our Critical Care department on an overnight basis. You will perform diagnostics, care for ICU patients, and handle client communications.

The role includes nursing care, rounds, medication administration, phlebotomy, and anesthesia monitoring support. Schedule is Wednesday to Friday 6pm–7am, with shift differentials available.

Qualifications

• Experience in veterinary care and ability to work overnight.
• Comfort with ICU patients and fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication with clients and team.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand medications and monitor therapeutic response; administer meds as directed.
• Perform phlebotomy and basic physical exams (vital signs, mucous membranes).
• Assist with anesthesia/monitoring for ASA I or II patients.
• Maintain accurate client communication and documentation.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant to join their Critical Care department on an overnight basis in Kirkland, WA!

Schedule

Wednesday-Friday 6pm-7am

Pay

$22 - $29 / hour

*Shift differentials available based on a 4-hour minimum:

• Monday-Friday 8pm-6am: $4.00
• Saturday-Sunday 8pm-6am: $5.50

Our Veterinary Assistants perform diagnostics (radiographs, labwork , etc ), setting patients up in ICU or Inpatient ward, discharging patients, and handle client communication.

As a Critical Care Veterinary Assistant, you will:

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform phlebotomy.
• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
