Job Description

Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU is seeking a Security Officer to primarily work the overnight shift. Reporting to the Director of Loss Prevention, this role is vital in ensuring the safety of our guests, staff, and hotel assets. The ideal candidate is proactive, skilled in problem-solving, and able to stay calm under pressure. Responsibilities include patrolling the premises, responding to safety incidents, and maintaining detailed records. Your dedication to service and attention to detail will foster a secure and welcoming environment for all.

Responsibilities

1. Safety Patrols: Conduct regular patrols of the hotel, including guest areas, service zones, and grounds, to ensure safety and security.
2. Incident Response: Respond swiftly to calls, guest and staff requests, and emergencies. Provide first aid when needed and coordinate medical assistance.
3. Documentation & Reporting: Complete incident reports, witness statements, and daily logs accurately. Follow up with involved parties as necessary.
4. Surveillance & Monitoring: Oversee security cameras and alarm systems, enforce safety protocols, and manage access control, including visitor badges and bag checks for staff.
5. Property Security: Assist in maintaining alarm systems, secure building access points, and ensure the proper functioning of fire and safety alarms.
6. Emergency Support: Serve as a point of contact during emergencies, guiding guests and staff to safety and coordinating with management. Familiarize yourself with all safety procedures.
7. Conflict Resolution: Handle disturbances professionally, defusing conflicts to maintain a peaceful environment.
8. Team Collaboration: Participate in meetings and training sessions, communicating effectively with team members.
9. Hazard Identification: Proactively identify and report unsafe conditions, helping to maintain a safe environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods during shifts.
• Capability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds independently and over 75 pounds with assistance.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, proficient with telephones, email, radios, and reporting systems.
• Detail-oriented, service-focused, with a friendly demeanor.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Computer skills and experience with security systems preferred.
• First Aid/CPR certification highly desirable.
• Flexible to work various shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

This is a full-time, on-site position with no remote work options.
