Job Summary:

Grocery clerks are responsible for ensuring the grocery department is well-stocked for our customers. They assist in receiving, storing, and stocking products, guaranteeing proper product rotation and quality. They must be familiar with store products and their locations to help customers locate items. As a team member, they must exemplify Pete’s Four Pillars of Value: Aesthetic, Quality, and Customer Service.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Provide exceptional customer service to all customers.
2. Meet or exceed service standards and company expectations.
3. Handle and stock grocery products effectively.
4. Rotate and monitor product quality, build displays, and manage damages and credits per policy.
5. Complete stocking and cleanup duties efficiently.
6. Assist with store operations such as cleaning or hanging signs as needed.
7. Support back-stock activities and ensure timely returns of items.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. with 0-3 years of retail or grocery experience.
• Valid Food Handler’s Certificate.
• Knowledge of department functions.

Skills and Abilities:

• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Effective communication skills with customers and team members.
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, able to work independently or in groups.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

• Overnight shift; may work other shifts as needed.
• Ability to stand for long periods, bend, climb, lift up to 75 lbs., and work in coolers/freezers.
• Ability to handle high-stress situations.
• Reliable transportation required.
