Copeland Veterinary Hospital in Cookeville, TN is seeking an Overnight Experienced Veterinary Technician/Assistant to join our 24/7 emergency team. You will work in a high-acuity setting, triaging, monitoring ICU patients, and supporting surgeries with a collaborative ER DVM team.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of emergency veterinary experience preferred.
• ER/ICU experience is a plus.
• Overnight availability preferred but not required for all qualifying candidates.

Responsibilities

• Emergency triage and stabilization of emergency cases.
• ICU monitoring: vitals, pain control, fluids, oxygen therapy.
• Surgical support: prep, anesthesia assistance, recovery monitoring.
• Diagnostics: radiographs, lab work, interpretation where applicable.
• Medication administration: IV/IM/SQ/PO.
• Client communication: clear, compassionate updates and discharge instructions.
• EMR/documentation: maintain accurate records.
• Team collaboration with ER DVMs and overnight teammates.

Location: Copeland Veterinary Hospital – 821 E 10th St, Cookeville, TN 38501 Shift: Full-Time | Overnight Shift | Emergency & Critical Care

What You’ll Do:

Daily responsibilities include:

• Emergency Triage & Stabilization: Quickly assess and stabilize emergency cases
• ICU Monitoring: Track vitals, manage pain, fluid therapy, and oxygen support
• Surgical Support: Prep patients, assist in anesthesia, monitor recovery
• Diagnostics: Perform radiographs, run lab samples, and interpret results
• Medication Administration: Deliver IV, IM, SQ, and PO meds accurately
• Client Communication: Provide compassionate, clear updates and discharge instructions
• Workflow Coordination: Prioritize care, maintain accurate records in EMRs
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with ER DVMs and overnight teammates

What We’re Looking For

• Preferred Experience:
  • 1+ years experience as an Emergency Veterinary Technican/Assistant
  • ER and/or ICU exerexperience is preferred
  • Overnight experience is a plus
• Certifications:
  • LVT, RVT, or CVT preferred (but not required)
  • We welcome Veterinary Assistants with strong clinical skills and a desire to grow
• Technical Skills:
  • Confident in venipuncture, catheter placement, surgical prep
  • Basic knowledge of anesthesia monitoring, CPR, fluid calculations
• Soft Skills:
  • Clear communication (verbal & written)
  • Calm under pressure and emotionally resilient
  • Detail-oriented, dependable, and a team player
• Schedule:
  • We would prefer full-time, but would accept a part-time candidate who had the right experience.
