The role focuses on emergency and critical care with opportunities to grow in a high-acuity environment alongside ER DVMs and overnight teammates.

Qualifications

• ER and ICU experience preferred.
• Overnight experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Are you an experienced Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant looking to thrive in emergency medicine? At Copeland Veterinary Hospital-Cookeville's only 24/7 emergency animal hospital-you'll work with a team that saves lives every shift.

We're hiring skilled, compassionate, and motivated veterinary professionals with a strong interest in emergency and critical care. Whether you're a licensed technician or an experienced assistant, this is your opportunity to grow in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment.

Location: Copeland Veterinary Hospital - 821 E 10th St, Cookeville, TN 38501

Shift: Full-Time | Overnight Shift | Emergency & Critical Care

What You'll Do:

Daily responsibilities include:

• Emergency Triage & Stabilization: Quickly assess and stabilize emergency cases
• ICU Monitoring: Track vitals, manage pain, fluid therapy, and oxygen support
• Surgical Support: Prep patients, assist in anesthesia, monitor recovery
• Diagnostics: Perform radiographs, run lab samples, and interpret results
• Medication Administration: Deliver IV, IM, SQ, and PO meds accurately
• Client Communication: Provide compassionate, clear updates and discharge instructions
• Workflow Coordination: Prioritize care, maintain accurate records in EMRs
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with ER DVMs and overnight teammates

What We're Looking For

• Preferred Experience
  • 1+ years experience as an Emergency Veterinary Technican/Assistant
  • ER and/or ICU exerexperience is preferred
  • Overnight experience is a plus
• Certifications
  • LVT, RVT, or CVT preferred (but not required)
  • We welcome Veterinary Assistants with strong clinical skills and a desire to grow
• Technical Skills
  • Confident in venipuncture, catheter placement, surgical prep
  • Basic knowledge of anesthesia monitoring, CPR, fluid calculations
• Soft Skills
  • Clear communication (verbal & written)
  • Calm under pressure and emotionally resilient
  • Detail-oriented, dependable, and a team player
• Schedule
  • We would prefer full-time, but would accept a part-time candidate who had the right experience.
