Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring a skilled veterinary technician for our Overnight Emergency team in Framingham, MA. The role includes anesthesia induction, monitoring, triage, radiography, and critical care duties.

Qualifications

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases at hospital arrival; obtain vitals (temp, HR, RR, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
• Understand normal ranges of vital signs (heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, oxygen saturation).
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs; alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical dosages and administer medications via appropriate routes and durations.
• Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train other co-workers.
• Address client concerns with patience and empathy.

Responsibilities

• Triage emergency cases on arrival; obtain vitals and report changes to the Veterinarian.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
• Maintain knowledge of normal vital sign ranges and respond to abnormalities.
• Monitor vitals and interpret results to guide care.
• Recognize arrest risk and initiate CPR when needed.
• Administer medications and perform medical calculations accurately.
• Conduct phlebotomy and place IV catheters as needed.
• Place feeding tubes and central lines when indicated.
• Mentor and train teammates; support a learning environment.
• Provide compassionate, clear communication to clients.
