Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Framingham, MA is seeking a skilled veterinary technician for our Overnight Emergency team. Join our brand new hospital and help triage, monitor anesthesia, and care for emergency patients around the clock.

Qualifications

Must be a skilled and compassionate veterinary technician.
Experience with anesthesia induction, monitoring and recovery.
Experience triaging emergency cases and monitoring vitals.

Responsibilities

Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
Triage emergency cases, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
Perform digital radiography using proper technique and positioning.
Understand normal ranges of patient vital signs, including heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, alerting the veterinarian to changes and issues.
Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
Calculate medical math and administer medications via appropriate routes and durations.
Proficiently perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
Mentor and train other co‑workers.
Show patience and empathy when addressing client concerns.
