Job summary

VCA Seaside Animal Hospital in Austin is seeking an Emergency Veterinarian to deliver immediate, comprehensive care for animals in critical condition. This role requires strong diagnostic and treatment skills, the ability to work efficiently under pressure, and clear communication with clients.

Responsibilities include evaluating emergencies, performing exams and treatments, conducting CPR and other procedures, administering medications, and collaborating with specialists.

Qualifications

• DVM/VMD degree from an accredited college.
• Texas license to practice veterinary medicine.
• Strong clinical skills in emergency medicine.
• Excellent communication and ability to work under pressure.
• Commitment to exceptional patient care and client service.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat animals presenting with emergencies, including trauma and acute illness.
• Perform physical exams, diagnose conditions, and develop treatment plans.
• Carry out emergency procedures such as CPR, airway management, and wound care.
• Administer medications and provide supportive care.
• Collaborate with other veterinarians and specialists for comprehensive care.
• Communicate diagnoses, options, and prognoses to clients with empathy.
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records.
• Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ultrasound capability is a plus; ER surgeries preferred.
