Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Conshohocken, PA is seeking a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Technician to join our Overnight Emergency team. The role involves anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery, triage of emergencies, and radiography using standard techniques.

You will monitor vitals, interpret blood pressure and other signs, perform phlebotomy, place IV catheters and feeding tubes, and mentor teammates while providing empathetic client communication.

Qualifications

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and obtain vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
• Understand normal ranges for vitals and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs.
• Identify at-risk patients and initiate CPR when needed.
• Calculate medical math and administer medications as directed.
• Phlebotomy and intravenous catheter placement in peripheral vessels.
• Place feeding tubes and maintain central lines.
• Mentor and train co-workers; address client concerns with empathy.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia and manage anesthesia equipment.
• Triage emergencies and monitor patients' vitals on arrival.
• Perform digital radiography with correct positioning.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of vital sign ranges and respond to changes.
• Assist Veterinarian by interpreting BP and other results.
• Recognize arrest risk and initiate CPR when necessary.
• Accurately perform medical calculations and administer meds.
• Phlebotomy and IV catheter placement; support line care.
• Place feeding tubes and manage central venous access.
• Mentor teammates and provide compassionate client communication.
