Overnight ER/ICU Veterinary Assistant, VESH

Join Our ICU Team at Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (VESH)!

Join us at Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (VESH) in the lively town of West Springfield, MA. We're searching for dedicated ER/ICU Veterinary Assistants like you to become a vital part of our dynamic team!

Compensation:

• $16.50 - $18.50 Pending skills assessment leveling

Available Schedules:

• Four 9 or three 12-hour shifts
• Overnights ($4 shift differential between 12a – 6a)
• Some weekends

Major Responsibilities:

• Patient Examination Support: Assist in all aspects of patient exams, including equipment setup, taking patient history, animal restraint, radiographs, owner take-home instructions, filling prescriptions, and scheduling appointments.
• Client Communications: Engage with clients through phone, email, and in-person interactions.
• Exam Room Preparation: Ensure exam rooms are clean and ready, record vital signs (TPR, weight, etc.) in the system.
• Animal Care & Handling: Perform cage cleaning, feeding, walking, bathing, and monitor cages to maintain cleanliness. Retrieve and return animals to/from owners, ensuring animals are clean and IV catheters are removed. Collect and return all belongings to owners.
• Hospital Admissions: Admit animals for hospital care, ensuring proper identification for each.
• Facility Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness in the hospital treatment area, including cage cleaning, laundry, treatment tables, and exam rooms.
• Stocking Supplies: Regularly stock hospital supplies and assist with deliveries.
• Record Keeping: Accurately document information in patient medical records.
• Room Stocking: Ensure exam and procedure rooms are well-stocked and items are readily available.
