Job summary

Metropolitan Veterinary Associates (MVA) is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our overnight team. You will support our emergency department, assist with triage, anesthesia, surgery prep, and discharge planning in a fast-paced specialty hospital.

We offer a full-time schedule starting at $19.00 per hour plus a 25% shift differential, comprehensive benefits, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, and opportunities for growth through our Education and Development team.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in veterinary, animal care, or shelter environment (preferred).
• Solid communication skills, especially under pressure.
• Basic knowledge of animal handling and veterinary terminology.
• Calm, organized demeanor suitable for a fast-paced setting.
• Attention to detail and accuracy with medical records and supplies.

Responsibilities

• Assist with triage, anesthesia, surgery and discharge preparation.
• Provide hands-on support during emergency procedures and patient care.
• Prepare and restock treatment areas, ensure clean, organized equipment.
• Communicate compassionately with pet parents and direct them to team members.
• Perform basic laboratory tasks and collect patient data under supervision.
• Collaborate with emergency technicians and doctors to ensure efficient care.
