Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a Clinical Technician I for the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU). You will monitor adult and pediatric patients, initiate and terminate EMU studies, and ensure high-quality EEG/AV recordings.

You will identify events, respond appropriately, and assist in training new staff. This role requires one year of direct patient care experience and strong multitasking and communication skills.

Qualifications

• One year of health care experience involving direct patient care.
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families and staff.
• Ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

• Prepare area and materials for patient testing in the adult and pediatric EMU.
• Performs routine technical measurements using EEG/AV equipment.
• Records EMU studies with audiovisual and EEG equipment and maintains quality of recordings.
• Identifies clinical and electrographic events and responds appropriately.
• Assists with collecting equipment/electrodes upon patient discharge.
• Performs routine maintenance of equipment to ensure operational condition.
• Escorts patients to examination rooms.
