Job Description
We are seeking a Digital Editor and Platforms Producer to join MSNBC Digital. You will oversee MSNBC’s homepage, app, newsletters, and social media channels, ensuring content is accurate, engaging, and reflective of major news stories. The role requires a versatile journalist with excellent news judgment, strong writing, social media, and video editing skills, and a passion for the MSNBC brand. The position is based in New York City, Washington, D.C., or Los Angeles, with a schedule from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday-Friday.

Responsibilities

1. Write compelling and accurate headlines to drive engagement
2. Prepare and send app alerts
3. Produce and distribute MSNBC’s marquee newsletters
4. Maintain and update the MSNBC homepage
5. Create shareable content for social media platforms
6. Produce editorial and breaking news content across multiple formats (video, text, photo, live streams)
7. Fact-check all content to meet journalistic, legal, and quality standards
8. Create graphics and photo posts for Instagram with headlines
9. Collaborate with show producers, writers, and contributors on daily content
10. Write and publish breaking news blogs on major stories

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years experience in digital newsrooms, with social media publishing experience
• At least 4 years of political producing/writing experience
• Proficiency across all social media platforms and trends
• Skills in Adobe Premiere, in-app editing, CapCut
• Self-starter with ability to generate ideas and work independently
• Excellent news judgment and ability to react swiftly to breaking news
• Positive attitude, cooperative, energetic, team-oriented
• Willing to work flexible hours
