Job description

The Overnight Camp Counselor is responsible for planning, leading, coordinating, and implementing core and non-core programs and experiences for children in a small group setting during daily programs and overnight cabin stays. They will ensure the safety, development, growth, and skill achievement of participants in their group. The counselor will provide high-quality outdoor educational and recreational experiences that reflect the YMCA's core values of caring, equity, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Minimum age of 17 years.
  2. Adult and Pediatric First Aid & CPR/AED certification provided by YMCA or other certified organization.
  3. Lifeguard certification may be required for some positions, obtainable after hire. Recognized certifications include American Red Cross, YMCA, Star Guard, and Boy Scouts of America.
  4. Education, classes, or experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or related fields.
  5. Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement activities for all age levels.
  6. Ability to work as part of a team and accomplish tasks with minimal supervision.
  7. Strong organizational and communication skills.
