Job summary

Hims & Hers, a leading health and wellness platform, is seeking an Environmental Monitoring (EM) Specialist to support contamination control in sterile pharmaceutical compounding cleanrooms. You will perform sampling, incubation, and reporting to maintain aseptic operations in compliance with USP standards.

The role supports an overnight shift and requires meticulous documentation, strict PPE use, and collaboration with the Microbiologist on investigations and third‑party lab submissions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in environmental monitoring sampling and related tasks.
• Experience with non-viable/viable air sampling and surface sampling.
• Knowledge of gram staining and microbial growth identification.
• Ability to work in ISO Class 5 or cleaner environments and maintain aseptic technique.
• Familiarity with USP <795>, <797>, and <800> guidelines for sterile compounding.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine non-viable and viable air sampling, surface sampling, and personnel monitoring within ISO-classified cleanroom environments.
• Ensure proper handling and labeling of sampling media to maintain integrity during sampling and incubation.
• Document sampling events, locations, results, and observations in compliance with SOPs and regulatory expectations.
• Adhere to defined sampling schedules and respond to unscheduled or investigative sampling needs.
• Manage incubation of solid and liquid microbiological media at 20–25°C and 30–35°C.
• Perform interim and final readings of incubated media plates to enumerate CFUs.
• Report and investigate results at alert and/or action levels.
• Support the Microbiologist in responding to microbial growth events and investigations.
• Coordinate submission of microbial-positive samples to third-party labs and assist in data gathering.
• Maintain investigation logs and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
