Job description

Description

The Yard/Shuttle Driver is responsible for coordinating truck and trailer movements to and from warehouse bays, as well as transporting shuttle loads to Cape Cod Express locations.

Hourly Rate: $25.55 per hour

Hours: Monday - Thursday, 6:30 pm - 5:00 am

Key Responsibilities:

1. Ensure safety SOPs are followed during yard and shuttle operations.
2. Maintain all Class A CDL DOT compliance requirements as per FMCSA regulations.
3. Perform road delivery duties when volume demands.
4. Unload pallets from trucks using a pallet jack, placing cases at customer locations as directed.
5. Unload cases with a two-wheel hand truck, weighing up to 150 lbs, navigating stairs and ramps as needed.
6. Unload and stack products in customer-specified locations, including in tight spaces and on stairs.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Operate yard jockey or road tractor safely.
• Operate or be trained to operate forklift and power pallet jack.
• Climb into/out of trucks multiple times per shift.
• Work in all weather conditions, including heat, rain, snow, and ice.

Education, Experience, and Training:

• Possess and maintain a valid Class A CDL license and meet all DOT requirements.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Qualified to operate Class A & B trucks safely.
• Operate truck hydraulic tailgate and identify maintenance needs for out-of-service trucks.
• Experience with yard jockey equipment and related training.
• Complete pre- and post-trip inspections for Class A & B trucks.

Physical Requirements

• Lift weights between 20-50 lbs from floor to waist and shoulder.
• Climb in and out of tractors using three points of contact, following safety SOPs.
• Meet all physical requirements outlined in FMCSA regulations.
