YMCA Camp Kenan (CampKenan.com) overlooks beautiful Lake Ontario on 50 acres near Barker, NY.

YMCA Camp Weona (CampWeona.com) is nestled among 800 acres of hills and forests in Gainesville, NY.

Application Process

When applying for this job, you will be asked to select your preferred overnight camp location. Camp activities include swimming, archery, low & high ropes challenges, climbing wall, gaga ball, arts & crafts, nature, science, and more.

Position Summary

This role involves planning and implementing a specialized program segment, such as arts & crafts, archery, ropes courses, rock climbing, sports, or STEM activities.

Work Schedule

This is a residential position with provided food and lodging. The work schedule follows the camper session from Sunday to Friday, with a 24-hour break. Employment includes a training week starting June 22, 2025, followed by 7 weeks of programming, ending August 16, 2025.

Essential Functions
  • Develop daily activity schedules for the specialty program, allowing flexibility and progression.
  • Provide weekly plans, materials list, and objectives to supervisors.
  • Assist in camp training to demonstrate program activities aligned with camp themes.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and parents.
  • Maintain positive communication between campers and staff.
  • Set up and break down the specialty area; manage supplies and equipment.
  • Submit end-of-summer reports including inventory, program narratives, staff evaluations, and recommendations.
  • Participate in camp training and staff meetings.
  • Adhere to YMCA and NYS Health Department rules and safety protocols, including PPE and sanitation procedures.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized.
  • Perform safety checks and emergency procedures as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • At least one year of experience in camping, recreation, or related fields.
  • Relevant certifications and qualifications for the specialty program, as required by YMCA and regulatory agencies.
  • Must be at least 18 years old or a high school graduate.
