Job summary

Eurofins Professional Scientific Services (PSS) in San Diego seeks an Automation Scientist to support overnight, high-throughput liquid-handling operations. You will operate automation platforms, load and monitor runs, and ensure quality control to double throughput for time-sensitive requests.

The role requires a BS in a life sciences field, 2–5 years of experience, and the ability to work a dedicated second shift with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a life sciences, chemistry, engineering, or related field.
• 2–5 years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Experience operating automated liquid-handling systems (Beckman Coulter Biomek i7 or similar).
• Ability to work a dedicated second-shift schedule with limited supervision.
• Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude for robotics.
• Excellent organizational skills and meticulous record‑keeping.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Operate automated liquid-handling platforms on a second shift to handle overnight overflow.
• Execute scheduled overnight runs to increase throughput.
• Load, setup and start robotic runs; perform setup and cleanup to maximize productivity.
• Perform QC on liquid handlers using Artel for a large instrument fleet.
• Transport sample plates and initiate runs to downstream processes.
• Monitor robotic systems overnight and troubleshoot to minimize downtime.
