Job summary

Eurofins PSS, part of a global life sciences network, seeks a Senior Lab Automation Engineer to drive automated workflows in a regulated environment. You will support instrument qualification, validation, and lifecycle management while partnering with lab and quality teams to deliver compliant operations.

You will troubleshoot, optimize methods, and train staff in automated systems, data integrity, and SOP development, ensuring GMP/GxP standards across platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Automation, Robotics, or related field.
• 6+ years of experience supporting laboratory automation or regulated operations.
• Hands-on experience with automated liquid handling systems (Hamilton, Beckman, Tecan) and similar platforms.
• Experience with validation, qualification, change control, and data integrity requirements.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for laboratory automation systems, including liquid handlers, robotics, plate readers, and other automated instruments.
• Troubleshoot instrument, software, and workflow issues to minimize downtime and improve laboratory performance.
• Develop, implement, and optimize automated laboratory methods and processes.
• Support instrument qualification, computer system validation (CSV), calibration, maintenance, and lifecycle management activities.
• Analyze system performance data to identify opportunities for automation and process improvements.
• Train and support laboratory personnel on automated systems and best practices.
• Utilize LIMS, ELN, and related laboratory systems to maintain data integrity and compliant documentation.
• Author and review SOPs, validation documents, protocols, and technical reports.
• Ensure compliance with GLP, GMP/GxP, data integrity, and laboratory safety requirements.

Help drive laboratory automation, improve workflows, and solve complex technical challenges in a regulated scientific environment.

We're seeking an experienced Senior Lab Automation Engineer to support and optimize automated laboratory platforms and workflows. This role combines hands-on automation support, troubleshooting, validation, and continuous improvement while partnering with laboratory, quality, and engineering teams to deliver reliable, efficient, and compliant operations.

What You'll Do

• Serve as a subject matter expert for laboratory automation systems, including liquid handlers, robotics, plate readers, and other automated laboratory instruments.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Automation, Robotics, or a related technical field.
• 6+ years of industry experience supporting laboratory automation, robotics, or regulated laboratory operations.
• Hands-on experience with automated liquid handling systems such as Hamilton, Beckman, Tecan, or similar platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for automated instrumentation, software, and laboratory workflows.
• Experience with system validation, qualification, and change control activities.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple functional teams.
• Knowledge of GLP, GMP/GxP, data integrity requirements, and computerized system validation.

Preferred

• Experience with laboratory automation programming, workflow development, or process optimization.
• Experience with LIMS, ELN, and other laboratory informatics systems.
• Experience training, mentoring, or providing technical guidance to laboratory staff.

Additional Information

• Position is full-time, Monday - Friday, 8AM-5PM. Travel and overtime as needed.
