• Emergency & Escalation Protocol: Follow on-call protocol and document incidents in Notion immediately.
• AM Checklist — Before Morning Team Arrives: Complete feeding, potty rounds, and handoff notes for the morning team.

The Overnight Associate holds one of the most trusted positions at Pet Companions. When the day team goes home, this person is it — the sole responsible party for every dog in our care. That is not a small thing. Boarding clients chose PCBB because they trust us with an animal they love. The Overnight Associate is the direct embodiment of that promise from close of business until the morning team arrives.

This role requires calm confidence, sharp observation, and the discipline to execute a full overnight and AM protocol completely and correctly — every time, without supervision. The best Overnight Associates don't need to be checked on. They check in.

Key Responsibilities

What this role owns.

Evening Transition & Check-In

• Receive full handoff from the closing Shift Lead
• Confirm all boarding dogs are present and settled
• Review Notion dog profiles for each boarder
• Ensure all sleeping areas are clean and set up per profile
• Confirm facility is secured: doors locked, cameras active

Overnight Monitoring & Care

• Conduct regular check rounds throughout the night
• Monitor each dog for stress, illness, injury, or behavioral concern
• Re-settle anxious dogs calmly using PCBB-approved methods
• Administer scheduled overnight medications per dog profile
• Spot-clean kennels and sleeping areas as needed
• Complete overnight log in Notion

Emergency & Escalation Protocol

• Know the on-call contact protocol and use it without hesitation
• Document all incidents in Notion immediately
• Follow PCBB emergency protocol for medical concerns

AM Checklist — Before Morning Team Arrives

• Full feeding round completed per each dog's profile
• Morning potty round completed for all boarders
• All kennel runs cleaned and reset
• Overnight dog reports updated in Notion
• Supplies checked and restocked
• Facility walk-through completed
• Game Plan handoff notes prepared for Shift Lead

Requirements

What we're looking for.

• Completion of PCBB onboarding and training program before working an unsupervised overnight shift
• Demonstrated comfort and confidence handling dogs of all sizes, temperaments, and energy levels — including anxious or reactive dogs in low-stimulation environments
• Ability to work independently through the night with sustained focus and accountability
• Strong observational skills — able to identify behavioral or physical changes that warrant action
• Reliable, punctual, and reachable — the morning team depends on this role showing up
• CPR / First Aid for Pets preferred; willingness to certify required
• Familiarity with Notion and Slack; training provided
