Job summary

DK Security is seeking a part-time overnight armed security officer to help secure a military base in Greater Lansing, MI. The role requires a Michigan CPL and prior armed security, military, or law enforcement experience.

The position offers 16-36 hours per week with weekend availability and pays $19.89–$20.09 per hour, depending on site. A high school diploma or GED is required, along with strong English communication skills and the ability to pass background and drug testing.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service and maintain professionalism.
• Observe and report suspicious activities and incidents.
• Maintain security presence in lobbies, reception areas, and control centers.
• Conduct foot and vehicle patrols as assigned.
• Control access and verify IDs to prevent unauthorized entry.
• Ensure a safe environment and enforce site policies.
• Respond to emergencies and assist with CPR/First Aid/AED as needed.
• Maintain communication with client staff and site supervisor.

• TITLE: Armed Security Officer
• ABOUT THE JOB: DK Security is seeking a part-time overnight armed security officer to help secure a military base. This position is suited for a flexible person with armed security, military, or law enforcement experience who understands the mission and is available to help secure and protect visitors, grounds, and staff in an armed capacity.

Security officer duties include the following:

• Customer Service: Be a positive reflection of the company and yourself by assisting client staff, visitors, and coworkers, and maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
• Observe and Report: Stay alert and be on the lookout for any suspicious activities and incidents.
• Security Presence: Maintain a professional appearance and stand guard in and around building lobbies, reception areas, control centers, etc.
• Security Officer: Conduct foot and/or vehicle patrols of your assigned areas performing security officer duties as required.
• Access Control: Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas, check employee and vendor IDs, and follow proper access procedures.
• Safety Patrol: Ensure a safe and secure environment for all employees and visitors, enforcing the policies and procedures of the assigned location and reporting any safety concerns.
• Emergency Response: Be ready and able to assist in emergencies, including the administering of CPR/First Aid/AED care and communicating with emergency personnel using the proper protocols.
• Security Liaison: Maintain professional communication with the client staff, follow through with client requests, and keep the site supervisor/operations manager updated on all client communications.
• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
• Must be a current holder of a valid, unexpired Michigan CPL.
• Must have prior armed experience in either armed security, law enforcement, or military roles.
• Must have either a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must be of good moral character and have the ability to pass a criminal background check, with no felony convictions, and no misdemeanor convictions for criminal sexual conduct or related offenses, theft, assault, illegal substances, multiple alcohol related offenses, or crimes of moral turpitude, is required.
• Must be able to pass a psychological evaluation.
• Must be able to successfully pass a drug test at the time of hire and annually thereafter.
• Must present a friendly, positive, professional image, adhering to our Appearance and Grooming policy.
• Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Must be able to read and write in the English language and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures, maintenance instructions and reports.
• Intermediate computer skills required - Comfortable with Microsoft Office
• Must be able to sit, stand, walk, crouch, move quickly, lift at least 70 lbs, navigate stairs, as well as use fingers to manipulate small tools and equipment, both indoors and outdoors in any weather for an 8 to 12-hour shift.
