Job summary

The Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis seeks an Overhire Sound Technician to assist with load in/out, operation, and rigging of sound equipment for Guthrie productions. The Head Sound Engineer assigns work and coordinates scheduling for on-call staffing.

As an on-call role, you will participate in productions and events as needed, with a focus on safety, teamwork, and maintaining Guthrie's standards of artistic excellence and inclusion.

Qualifications

  • Experience programming and operating DiGiCo consoles (Dowling Studio).
  • Experience programming and operating digital audio consoles (Non-Dowling Studio).
  • Strong understanding of audio signal flow.
  • Experience working with wireless microphone systems.
  • Can utilize EQ to reduce feedback and improve clarity.
  • Can work efficiently and adapt quickly as priorities shift.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional, respectful, and collaborative within the department and with related departments.
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • Receptive to direction and can implement feedback.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety in the workplace.
  • Can lift and hold 25 lbs.
  • Can lift things overhead.
  • Can maneuver the theater spaces with or without accommodations.
  • Can stand and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Can work on an as-needed basis and can be scheduled based on the needs of the event.

Compensation: $31.05 per hour

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement with IATSE Local 13.

Position Summary

The Overhire Sound Technician assists with the load in/out, operation, and rigging of sound equipment for Guthrie productions. The Head Sound Engineer schedules work assignments.

The Guthrie employs Overhire staff on an as-needed basis which varies throughout the year based on the needs of each production or event. All Overhire positions may range in terms of both required experiences and length of commitment.
