Job summary

Gerdau North America is seeking an Overhead Cab Crane Operator for the Melt Shop. You will operate a 270 ton overhead crane to load and charge the furnace, move raw materials, and assist with maintenance.

The role requires endurance for long shifts, high temperatures, and working at heights, with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork. Your duties include planning material movements, executing crane operations, and inspecting equipment.

Qualifications

• 3 years experience operating a cab-controlled overhead crane from an elevated operator cab.
• Ability to work as part of a self-directed team with limited supervision.
• Ability to work a 12 hr rotating shift, days, nights and two weekends a month.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in temperatures up to 160 degrees.

Responsibilities

• Operate a 270 ton overhead charging crane to move scrap from loading area to furnace.
• Plan and execute material movement sequences to service melt shop efficiently.
• Inspect crane and report defects or malfunctions.
• Perform routine equipment care and assist with maintenance activities.
