Job summary

BHcare in Connecticut is seeking a Prevention Specialist to join the Alliance for Prevention & Wellness (APW) with a focus on overdose response. The role emphasizes substance misuse prevention, mental health promotion, coalition building, and delivering evidence-based programming.

You will engage communities, coordinate trainings, build partnerships with state and local stakeholders, and ensure grant compliance while collecting and reporting data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate degree in a related field with prevention experience, or equivalent.
• Experience in substance misuse prevention, mental health promotion, or public health initiatives.
• Strong written and verbal communication; public speaking and presentations encouraged.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships with diverse partners and stakeholders.
• Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) or willingness to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with community assessments and needs analyses.
• Coordinate trainings, outreach, and partner engagement.
• Implement evidence-informed prevention strategies (overdose prevention, naloxone education, etc.).
• Strengthen community capacity through collaboration with partners and coalitions.
• Provide technical assistance to grantees and recruit Recovery Friendly Workplaces.
