Job summary

Carter Lumber is hiring an Outside Sales Representative in Savannah, GA to build and maintain relationships with local contractors, builders, and remodelers. You will sell our full line of building materials and installed services, manage postsale relationships, and track customer needs and trends.

We offer salary plus commission, opportunities for growth, and involvement across yard, dispatch, and management teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of building materials outside sales experience.
• Knowledge of home building basics.
• Create material estimates/quotes and handle special orders.
• Open new accounts monthly/quarterly.
• Read blueprints and provide material take-offs.
• Ability to work independently.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
• Attend HBA/builder/company functions as required.

Responsibilities

• Sell our full line of building materials and installed services to local contractors.
• Manage each sold job and maintain relationships with customers.
• Visit job sites as needed and maintain schedules.
• Collect and update customer product use and trends.
• Coordinate with yard, dispatch, and management to ensure projects run smoothly.
• Utilize proven sales strategies and strong communication.

Description

Sales Reps work with all departments from the Yard and dispatch office to middle management to market Vice Presidents. You will beresponsible for finding and completing sales of our full line of building materials and installed services with local contractors, builders, and remodelers.Yes, you will “sell projects,” but once a job is sold, you need to manage that joband that relationship. You’ll collect and keep up to date information on your customers’ product use and trends, visit job sites as needed, maintain schedules, and put out fires. Proven sales strategies, commitment follow-through, and heavy communication are all necessary for success.

Requirements

• 5+ yearsof experience in building materials outside sales
• Knowledge of home building basics
