Job summary

SRS Distribution Inc. in Flowood, MS is seeking an Outside Sales professional to manage all sales activities from lead generation through close within an assigned territory. You will implement the Marketing Plan and work toward customer satisfaction and revenue goals.

You will build long-term relationships, present proposals, negotiate terms, and coordinate with operations to ensure on-time delivery while traveling up to 30% of the time.

Position Purpose

Position Purpose: The primary function of the Outside Sales position is to be responsible for all sales activities from lead generation through close in an assigned territory. This person will develop and implement the agreed upon Company Marketing Plan. The individual will work toward the achievement of customer satisfaction, revenue generation, and long-term account goals in line with branch vision and values, and his/her own personal business goals. Training will be given to the new employee in the following areas: Product knowledge of building materials including: drywall, insulation, metal studs for drywall, ceiling systems, construction tools, construction safety items, drywall compound, and accessories for the drywall industry.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for all steps of sales process, including: preparing action plans by accounts and product line, effective search and follow-through of sales leads and new customers Identify and execute on opportunities for up-sell and cross-sell Establish rapport with customers, building long-term, repeat customer relationships Proficient in product knowledge to assist the customer in buying decisions Provide timely and accurate competitive pricing on all completed prospect applications submitted for pricing and approval Maintain accurate records of sales activity, sales, and pricing Gather competitive market and pricing information Develop and execute sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue, margin, and growth objectives. Identify and pursue new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, referrals, and market analysis. Conduct regular customer visits to assess needs, provide product recommendations, and strengthen business partnerships. Prepare and present sales proposals, bids, quotations, and contracts. Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions within established company guidelines. Coordinate with operations, logistics, and customer service teams to ensure timely product delivery and customer satisfaction. Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to identify opportunities and potential risks. Resolve customer concerns and issues promptly while maintaining positive business relationships. Participate in industry events, trade shows, association meetings, and networking activities to promote the company's products and services. Collaborate with branch and corporate leadership to develop territory growth plans and sales initiatives. Prepare sales reports, forecasts, and budgets as requested by management. Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and applicable industry requirements.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position in an office environment 70% of the time. Will occasionally move about inside the office to access files, office machinery, etc. Must be able to operate basic office machinery. Must be able to communicate with team and management and be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

Working Conditions

The role primarily works in a professional office environment but may also spend significant time traveling to customer locations, industry events, trade shows, branch locations, and other business-related meetings. This position requires frequent interaction with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders through in-person meetings, telephone conversations, video conferences, and electronic communications. The role may require extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, and working at a computer. Must be able to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines and responding to changing business needs. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to accommodate customer schedules, travel requirements, or business demands. Additional working conditions may include: Frequent use of computers, phones, and other standard office equipment. Regular communication with customers, sales teams, operations, and senior leadership. Travel by automobile and/or air as necessary to support sales activities and customer relationships. Ability to visit customer facilities, warehouses, manufacturing locations, construction sites, or distribution centers, as applicable. May be exposed to varying environmental conditions when visiting customer or operational sites, including changes in temperature, noise levels, and outdoor weather conditions. Ability to lift and carry sales materials, product samples, and presentation equipment up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Strong Microsoft office skills Ability to self-manage is critical, as well extensive experience in all aspects of supplier relationship management.
