Job summary

Per Sé Group is seeking a hands-on Power Plant Operator to work outside the control room at a 2×1 combined-cycle plant. You will monitor and troubleshoot equipment across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and water-treatment systems, while coordinating with Operations and Maintenance.

Prior field experience and outside/BOP exposure are highly valued. Qualified candidates are comfortable with 12-hour rotating shifts, per diem, and travel reimbursement.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of power generation experience.
• Hands-on, independent worker who can decide and act in the field.
• Outside/BOP experience valued; control-room not required.

Responsibilities

• Make rounds and monitor equipment to catch issues early.
• Operate and troubleshoot BOP equipment (pumps, motors, actuators, valves, compressors).
• Support plant startups, shutdowns, and daily Ops/Maintenance coordination.
• Read electrical/mechanical diagrams and technical manuals (P&IDs, one-lines).
• Perform high-voltage switching and follow energy-control procedures (LOTO).
• Enter work orders and PMs in the CMMS and keep equipment ready to run.
• Take ownership of problems and lead projects when needed.

Job description

If you’ve spent the last few years making rounds, manipulating equipment, chasing down abnormal conditions, and working with a control room to keep a plant running, this is the kind of role where that experience matters.

You’ll be working outside the control room at a 2×1 combined-cycle power plant with Siemens 501G turbines, getting hands-on with the equipment that actually keeps the plant producing.

What you’ll do

• Make rounds, monitor equipment, and catch operating issues before they become bigger problems.
• Operate and troubleshoot BOP equipment including pumps, motors, actuators, valves, compressors, and auxiliary systems.
• Support plant startups, shutdowns, equipment manipulations, and daily coordination between Operations and Maintenance.
• Read and work from P&IDs, electrical one-lines, mechanical drawings, logic diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Perform high-voltage switching, prepare permits, and work within LOTO/energy-control procedures.
• Enter work orders and PMs through the CMMS and help keep equipment and the plant ready to run.
• Take ownership of problems, support other technicians, and step up when a project needs someone to lead it.

What you get

$45-$55/hour, 12-hour rotating shifts, plus the opportunity to work across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and water-treatment systems instead of being boxed into one piece of equipment. Per diem is available at $178/day, with travel reimbursement available for eligible candidates.

You are

A hands-on power plant operator with roughly 3-5+ years of power generation experience who can work independently and make sound decisions when things don’t go according to plan. Outside/BOP experience matters here. You don’t need control-room experience, but you do need to know how to operate and troubleshoot equipment in the field.

Water treatment/water chemistry is a bonus, not a gatekeeper.
