Job summary

Swyft Fiber is seeking an Outside Plant Inspector to oversee contractor field work related to cable TV and fiber optic plant construction. The role requires inspecting construction to standards, updating maps, and communicating issues to management.

The position involves field duties, travel to project sites, and readiness for long hours, weekends, and emergency scheduling. A valid driver's license and ability to lift up to 50 lbs are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of related experience preferred.
• Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Must be able to travel to various project sites and markets.
• Able to work long hours, overtime, weekends, and emergency schedules.

Responsibilities

• Oversee, audit, validate, and inspect contractor field work and fiber/cable plant construction.
• Inspect fiber construction in accordance with industry standards.
• Update construction maps and systems with changes/additions and materials used.
• Identify and communicate construction issues, progress, and opportunities to management and design staff.
• Maintain all record keeping in a timely and accurate fashion.
• Write technical reports or documentation.

Job description

Oversees, audits, validates, and inspects contractor field work/performance involving cable TV and fiber optic cable plant construction which includes directional drilling, placement of underground and aerial fiber optic and cable tv cable as well as hand holes splice enclosures grounding, bonding, and other construction practices consistent with engineering documents, permits, and designs.

• Inspects fiber construction in accordance with acceptable industry standards.
• Accurately updates construction maps and systems with changes/additions and materials used consistently with established processes.
• Identifies and communicates construction issues, progress, opportunities, etc. to management and design staff as needed.
• Maintains all record keeping in a timely and accurate fashion.
• Other duties as assigned by management and design staff.
• Writes technical reports or documentation.

Job Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of related experience preferred.
• Must be able to travel as needed to various project sites and markets, which may require long hours and flexibility in schedule.
• Ability to work long hours involving overtime and weekends, as necessary.
• Ability to respond to the needs of a 24/7/365 operation.
• Must be able to work emergency schedules during natural disasters and network outages.
• Individuals must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record meeting the company and insurance policy conditions.

Physical Requirements

This is a physically demanding, Medium position requiring prolonged standing and walking; frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, twisting, reaching, climbing, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling; the ability to work at elevated heights and on uneven terrain; and the ability to safely operate tools, equipment, ladders, and vehicles. The position requires working outdoors in varying and sometimes extreme weather conditions and may involve work in remote locations.
