Propulsion Controls Engineering has job openings for Outside Machinist Journeyman, with a minimum of 5 years of marine and/or shipyard experience preferred; at our San Diego, CA location. PCE is a full-service electro-mechanical repair and diesel repair contractor. PCE has extensive experience in executing major system overhauls across numerous ports worldwide on virtually every class of ship currently in operation.
Capable of installation, maintenance, and repair of ship's propulsion and auxiliary systems including Steam, Gas Turbine, and Diesel propulsion systems, rudders and steering gear, elevators, and deck equipment without supervision. Also capable of installation, repair, and maintenance of ship's fluid systems such as pumps, compressors, purifiers, heat exchangers, actuators, and valves without supervision.
Analyze defects and repair electrical mechanical systems of outboard motors. Disassemble and inspect motors for defective parts using mechanical hand tools. Replace parts like gears, magneto points, piston rings, and spark plugs, then reassemble engines.
Perform testing of equipment to ensure systems meet specifications, references, and drawings without supervision. Follow repair references and drawings, and use precision measuring equipment proficiently. Perform other related tasks as assigned, some of which may be essential to the position.
This position may require access to U.S. government or military sites. Candidates must be eligible for base access clearance, which includes passing a background check and presenting valid government-issued ID. Acceptable IDs include REAL ID-compliant documents or a valid U.S. passport.
