Job summary

Outcomes First Group is seeking an Outreach Teaching Assistant to support students in school, community, and home-based learning environments. You will work with teachers to deliver personalised programmes, implement support plans, manage behaviour strategies, and accompany students to activities.

Qualifications include GCSE English and Maths, and a passion for helping children succeed. A driving licence and willingness to CPD are required to support learners aged 5–18 with SEMH needs at Oak

Qualifications

  • Confident managing challenging behaviour with patience, empathy and resilience.
  • Able to adapt learning approaches to meet individual student needs.
  • An excellent communicator who can build positive relationships with students, families and professionals.
  • Organised, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Clean Driving licence required with own vehicle.
  • Willingness to undertake group induction training and a strong commitment to CPD

Responsibilities

  • Supporting students on a one-to-one and small group basis both on-site and within community or home learning settings.
  • Working alongside teachers and tutors to deliver personalised learning programmes and enable students to access education successfully.
  • Assisting with the implementation of support plans, risk assessments, behaviour strategies, and individual learning plans.
  • Supporting students with social, emotional, behavioural, and educational needs, promoting independence and self-confidence.
  • Accompanying and transporting students to educational activities, appointments, and community-based learning opportunities.
  • Building positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and external professionals to ensure a consistent and supportive approach.
  • Helping to create engaging learning resources and maintaining accurate records of student progress and wellbeing.
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare, safety, and development of all students at all times.

  • Oak Tree School in Truro has recently expanded and developed two new buildings and undergone a successful inspection from Ofsted allowing us to offer a wider age range of students from 5 - 18 years the opportunity to have the best education possible. Oak Tree School is a specialist SEMH provision positioned near the city of Truro in Cornwall. The school provides full-time specialist co-education for up to 135 students and young people aged 5 to 18 who experience social, emotional, mental health, communication difficulties and associated challenging behaviours. These students and young people often cannot cope, function or achieve within a mainstream environment. The aim is to provide a structured, nurturing approach, with students accessing a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum to meet their significant needs.
