SALT Outreach, Inc. operates mobile drop-in centers to serve the unhoused community. The Outreach Assistant greets guests, assists with setup, and helps with services across locations.

This role involves data entry, inventory tasks, and coordination with volunteers to ensure smooth daily operations. Responsibilities include direct service delivery, relationship-building with clients, data capture in SALT systems, and supporting donations and resource management.

Formación

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, run and patrol for extended periods
• Must hear and see well (with or without correction)
• Able to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, push, pull, and reach overhead
• Frequent repetitive motions
• Fast-paced environment with frequent customer interactions
• Ability to adapt to temperature changes between indoors and outdoors
• Stand and walk for up to 8–10 hours per shift providing customer care
• Sit at a desk and use a computer for extended periods to perform data entry and administrative tasks
• Answer phone calls and communicate with colleagues and clients verbally throughout the day
• Use hands for typing and operating office equipment and scanners
• Review and analyze printed materials for accuracy
• Attend meetings and collaborate with team members
• Communicate professionally in person and via email
• Navigate multiple software systems to access customer information
• Occasionally stand and walk within the office to consult with supervisors or assist colleagues

Responsabilidades

• Perform outreach services including registration, mail, laundry, showers, charging stations, clothing, and hygiene items
• Build trusting relationships with homeless individuals with empathy and non-judgmental support
• Assist with preparing supplies for outreach events at different locations
• Assist in food and supply distribution and hygiene item distribution
• Adhere to policies and procedures when delivering services to clients
• Assist with guiding, directing, and creating relationships with volunteers
• Ensure cleanliness of Outreach office and designated areas of the building
• Accurately input data of each person experiencing homelessness into SALT systems
• Ensure clients fill out waivers and paperwork when necessary
• Provide exceptional customer service and ensure a positive experience for all guests
• Demonstrate high emotional intelligence and reflective listening
• Be a good steward of outreach supplies and report low inventory to Director of Outreach Services
• Maintain supplies for shower and laundry trailers and registration room
• Process in-kind donations as directed by the Director of Outreach Services
